  My experience was horrific. After a couple years a host (who has rescue dogs) a Student from China Fan Zhang arrived at my home. Within a few hours she claimed my dog had bitten her. As I am first aid qualified - I could not find any broken or damaged skin. I asker her how she was latter and she told me she was RUBBING her arm - still no evidence of anything. AHN are contacted - by Fan who decides that even though she is " VERY scared of the dogs and rabies"she would stay over nite. The next morning Fan said she saw fine. About 10 minutes latter she bursts out of her room balling hysterically that she has to go to the doctor as she is scared she has rabies. Of course I am getting stressed but I take her to the Doctor. After moving out - she demands I pay her medical bill - which I don't. Apparently after this she claims I verbally abused her and AHN says that she sent them a "recording" which they no longer have. How convenient.
  
  So I was removed as an AHN host. Of course they did not bother to check if the recording was me, and lets forget about AHN keeping records for 7 years as required by Australian Law! They assisted Fan is breaking our Law (the recording thing) and then helped this blackmailing law-breaker stay for the year of her studies. I did not did out about being removed from the AHN list till the following year. In my opinion ethics is not an AHN strong point. ALSO I would recommend being careful and consider using airbnb as at least things are up front and rated.
